This works. Not every student has someone to bring the questions to.
At university my results in advanced mathematics were ordinary. The maths paper for the postgraduate engineering entrance exam was hard, and I prepared for it on my own. Once a week I took the problems I had saved up — the ones I couldn't do — to a tutor, and we stayed on them until I understood every one.
That year one applicant in seven was admitted. Of the eight students the department took, I was the top in mathematics.
He changed schools in Term 3 of Year 9 and started out in the standard stream. With my help,
two terms later he moved up to the advanced pathway. We're now working toward Extension.

我上大学的时候,高等数学成绩一般。考工学硕士的时候,数学很难。我靠自学准备考研。每星期把攒下来不会做的题拿去问一次老师,做到把每一道题搞懂。
那年录取比例是七取一。系里录取的八个学生当中,我的数学成绩是第一名。
他九年级第三学期转到新学校,起初被分在普通班。在我的帮助下,
两个学期,他升入高级班。现在正朝 Extension 努力。
